Types of Pasta

There is more to life than spaghetti.

Here is a list of the kind of pasta Tony's offers.  Availability changes from store to store.

image Spaghetti
Spaghetti is a long, thin, cylindrical pasta of Italian origin. Spaghetti is made of semolina or flour and water.
image Cappellini/Angel Hair
Angel hair pasta is a long, thin noodle with a round shape. It is also known as capellini. The extremely fine pasta is excellent with light, delicate sauces as well as seasonal fresh vegetables. Several traditional Italian recipes call for angel hair pasta, and the pasta is readily available in most grocery stores.
image Ziti/Penne
is a type of pasta with cylinder-shaped pieces. Penne is the plural form of the Italian penna, deriving from Latin penna (meaning "feather" or "quill"). In Italy, penne are produced in two main variants: "penne lisce" (smooth) and "penne rigate" (furrowed), the latter having ridges on each penna.
image Rigatoni
RRigatoni is a form of tube-shaped pasta of varying lengths and diameters. It is larger than penne and ziti and sometimes slightly curved. Rigatoni is usually ridged and the tube's end, like ziti, but unlike penne, is square-cut, not diagonal.
image Fettucine
Fettuccine (literally "little ribbons" in Italian) is a type of pasta popular in Rome. It is a flat thick noodle made of egg and flour (usually one egg each 100 gr. flour)
image Fussili
Fusilli is a long, thick, corkscrew shaped pasta, commonly with 3 interlocking screws . The word fusilli presumably comes from fusile, archaic or dialectal word for "rifle" (fucile in modern Italian), referring to the spiral-grooved barrel of the latter. The word can also mean "little spindles" in standard Italian.
image Tubetti
Tubetti pasta is a short ziti type pasta, it is usually used in Italian wedding soup and is also used in Pasta e Fagioli soup.
image Farfalle

Commonly known as "bow-tie pasta," the name is derived from the Italian word farfalla (butterfly). Farfalle date back to the 16th century. It originated in Lombardia and Emilia-Romagna in Northern Italy.Farfalle come in several sizes, but have a distinctive bowtie shape.

image Stellete
There are few children in Italy who do not grow up eating Pastina, the classic tiny pasta stars that parents first serve as a child’s introduction to the delicious world of pasta.
